Tom Gallagher

Tom Gallagher trained as an electronics technician and spent eight years repairing consumer audio and display equipment before he started writing about it. He joined Arcade Monthly in 2022 to run the hardware desk and built its test bench, which measures input latency, stick tension and battery life the same way for every product.

He writes the magazine's controller, handheld and monitor reviews, and maintains the buying guides that are updated every quarter. If a product claims a number, Tom measures it.

Away from the bench he builds custom arcade sticks for friends and races karts badly. He lives in Denver with a very patient partner and a garage full of spare buttons.
