Overwatch Tier List (Season 5): Every Hero Ranked

Overwatch tier list for Season 5 (Oct 2026): all 54 heroes ranked by role using official Blizzard stats and live win rates.

Overwatch Tier List (Season 5): Every Hero Ranked

The best heroes in Overwatch right now are D.Mon on Tank, Vendetta and Torbjörn on Damage, and Doctrine on Support.

This Overwatch tier list covers Season 5: A Grim Doctrine and uses win rates from the first days after the October 6, 2026 patch.

Overwatch is Blizzard Entertainment’s free-to-play 5v5 hero shooter, called Overwatch 2 until

Blizzard dropped the number in February 2026. It now has 54 heroes split between Tank, Damage, and Support.

Applies to: the October 6, 2026 retail patch (Season 5), 5v5 Role Queue. Platforms: PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch and Switch 2. Last checked: October 9, 2026.

Heads up: Season 5 is only a few days old. Early win rates move fast, so read this as a first look and expect changes after the midseason patch.

Who is the best hero in each role right now?

D.Mon, Vendetta, and Doctrine. Each had the highest average win rate in its role across the

three data sources we checked.

How did we rank every Overwatch hero?

Every tier here comes from match data, not gut feeling. We averaged each hero’s win rate from three sources, then cut tiers at fixed lines.

1.     Blizzard’s official Hero Statistics page, default filters, checked October 9, 2026. It’s the only first-party data available.

2.     Counterwatch’s 5v5, all-ranks tier list, updated October 8, 2026. It pulls small samples toward 50%, so a lucky handful of games can’t top the list.

3.     Overwatch Hero Stats (owherostats.com), Competitive, all ranks, October 2 to 8, 2026. It also tracks ban rates.

Tier lines, based on the average rounded to one decimal: S is 53% or higher, A is 51.5% to 52.9%, B is 50% to 51.4%, C is 48% to 49.9%, and D is under 48%.

Two caveats. Owherostats’ 7-day window started four days before the patch, so part of its data is Season 4.

Tracer’s average uses two sources because the third didn’t publish her number.

Win rate isn’t everything. A 52% hero you play well beats a 54% hero you’ve never touched.

Overwatch Tank tier list (Season 5)

D.Mon is the best Tank in Overwatch right now, leading the role on all three data sources. Brawl and dive tanks follow, while Orisa, Mauga and the reworked Roadhog sit at the bottom.

Hero

Tier

Avg win rate

Why it’s here

D.Mon

S

54.4%

Highest Tank win rate on all three trackers. Owherostats shows her banned in 23% of ranked games, so you won’t always get her.

Reinhardt

A

52.9%

The classic brawl tank. Counterwatch has him at 53.0% across more than 160,000 tracked matches, so the number is solid.

Winston

A

52.8%

Dive tank that punishes snipers and immobile supports. 54.0% on Blizzard’s page.

Doomfist

A

52.2%

54.4% on Blizzard’s page but nearer 51% on community trackers. Banned 17.6% on owherostats.

Junker Queen

A

52.0%

Low pick rate, steady wins. Counterwatch puts her at 53.3%.

Domina

A

52.0%

Buffed: Crystal Charge cooldown 8 to 7 seconds, Reconstruction lifesteal 75% to 100%.

Hazard

B

50.8%

Middle of the pack on every tracker. Fine, nothing special.

Wrecking Ball

B

50.2%

Hovers right at 50%. Rewards practice more than most tanks.

Sigma

C

49.9%

Poke tank sitting just under the 50% line on two of three trackers.

Ramattra

C

48.7%

Below 50% on all three sources.

Zarya

D

47.8%

Banned in about 34% of ranked games on owherostats. Players rate her higher than her win rate does.

D.Va

D

47.4%

Micro Missiles buff (11 to 14 shots per second) hasn’t lifted her above 48% yet.

Orisa

D

47.0%

Under 48% on every tracker.

Mauga

D

46.1%

Second-lowest Tank average, yet banned 22.6% on owherostats.

Roadhog

D

45.8%

Just reworked, so players are still learning him. Our read: the hero most likely to climb as the season goes on.

The Roadhog rework in plain terms: Scrap Gun now fires two bursts per volley, and the new Trash Compactor soaks up projectiles and throws them back as an explosive.

Chain Hook’s stun also dropped from 0.4 to 0.3 seconds, and hooked targets land 4.5 meters away instead of 3.

The old one-shot combo is much harder to land (Blizzard patch notes, October 6, 2026).

Overwatch Damage (DPS) tier list (Season 5)

Vendetta and Torbjörn are the best Damage heroes in Overwatch right now, both averaging close to 55%. Long-range hitscan picks like Sojourn and Cassidy are at the bottom.

Hero

Tier

Avg win rate

Why it’s here

Vendetta

S

54.8%

Highest Damage average. Blizzard’s page shows 57.7%, the top number on the whole page.

Torbjörn

S

54.7%

Counterwatch’s number one hero overall at 55.8%. His turret does damage even when you’re not aiming.

Genji

A

52.8%

Buffed: Swift Strike 50 to 60 damage. Dragonblade swings 15% faster but hits for 100 instead of 110.

Symmetra

A

52.6%

53.7% on both Blizzard and Counterwatch. Rarely picked, wins often.

Venture

A

52.5%

Above 51% on all three trackers despite a low pick rate.

Mei

A

52.3%

54.6% on Blizzard’s page. Ice Wall still splits fights.

Pharah

A

51.9%

Steady 51% to 53% everywhere. Banned 12% on owherostats.

Anran

A

51.8%

The most consistent hero we tracked: 51.5% to 52.3% on every source.

Junkrat

B

51.2%

Spam still pays off. Around 50% to 52% across sources.

Ashe

B

50.8%

About 52% on community trackers, 48.8% on Blizzard’s default view.

Reaper

B

50.8%

Safe and unremarkable. Around 51% everywhere.

Tracer

B

50.8%

Two-source average. Mobalytics’ expert list rates her S tier, so she likely does better in coordinated high-rank games.

Sierra

B

50.0%

Sits right on the B and C line.

Hanzo

C

49.2%

Feast or famine, as always.

Soldier: 76

C

49.1%

Easy to play, hard to win big with.

Shion

C

49.0%

New Survival Instinct minor perk adds 1 second to Evade’s overhealth. No big shift yet.

Echo

C

48.9%

Below 50% on all three sources.

Widowmaker

C

48.0%

Map-dependent. Banned 13.8% on owherostats despite a sub-50% average.

Emre

D

47.4%

Buffed (Cyber Frag cooldown 10 to 9 seconds) but still under 48%.

Bastion

D

47.3%

Nerfed: Reconfigure now lasts 5 seconds, down from 6.

Freja

D

46.9%

Under 48% on all three. Still banned 18.6% on owherostats.

Cassidy

D

46.6%

Lost the Deadeye ride on Jetpack Cat’s Lifeline this patch.

Sojourn

D

45.0%

Lowest Damage win rate on every tracker, yet Mobalytics rates her S. A pro pick most players lose with.

Every hitscan hero felt one more change this patch. Blizzard shrank global hitscan projectile sizes (large from 0.07 to 0.04 meters, small from 0.04 to 0.02) alongside a roster-wide hit volume pass.

Overwatch Support tier list (Season 5)

Doctrine is the best Support in Overwatch right now, even after Blizzard nerfed him before launch. Kiriko, the most-picked Support on owherostats, has the lowest Support win rate.

Hero

Tier

Avg win rate

Why it’s here

Doctrine

S

54.0%

New this season and nerfed before release (Invigorating Drones attack speed 35% to 30%, Shrouded Momentum cooldown 7 to 8 seconds). Still on top. Counterwatch’s sample is smaller, about 3,700 matches.

Zenyatta

A

52.5%

Counterwatch’s top Support at 53.4%. Orb of Discord still melts tanks.

Sombra

A

52.1%

Brand new to Support. Sources range from 48.7% to 54.4%, and she’s banned 39.5% on owherostats. Expect movement.

Brigitte

A

51.6%

Quiet A-tier pick. 51% to 52% on every tracker.

Lúcio

B

51.3%

Sound Barrier lasts 6 seconds again (up from 5). Beat Drop now gives Amp It Up for 4 seconds.

Wuyang

B

51.1%

Above 51% on community data, exactly 50% on Blizzard’s default view.

Juno

B

50.5%

One of the most-played Supports on Counterwatch, with more than 280,000 matches.

Mizuki

B

50.4%

Middle of the pack on every source.

Moira

C

49.8%

Hovers at 50%. Easy and safe, rarely a carry.

Jetpack Cat

C

49.4%

Banned in 42.7% of ranked games on owherostats, the highest ban rate we saw.

Illari

C

48.9%

Swings from 45.8% (Blizzard) to 50.8% (owherostats).

Ana

C

48.4%

New Local Anesthetic perk makes Sleep Dart explode, slowing enemies and dealing 45 damage over 3 seconds.

Mercy

C

48.2%

Pocketing a carry still works, but she’s under 50% everywhere.

Baptiste

D

47.5%

43.7% on Blizzard’s page, the second-lowest Support figure there.

Lifeweaver

D

47.3%

Under 50% on all three sources.

Kiriko

D

44.7%

Lowest Support win rate on all three trackers, with a 27.6% pick rate on owherostats. Popular isn’t the same as winning.

Sombra’s rework, per the patch notes: Hack is gone. Cyberspace drops a 5-meter zone that heals allies and applies Weaken, which halves enemies’ damage and healing.

Her new Hotfix heals an ally for 65 instantly plus 25 per second, and she moved into the Tactician subrole.

What changed in Season 5 that moved the tiers?

Two reworks, one new hero, and a few number tweaks. Here’s what matters for the tier list, taken from Blizzard’s official Season 5 patch notes (October 6, 2026).

Hero

Change

Type

Sombra

Moved from Damage to Support. Hack removed; Cyberspace and Hotfix added.

Rework

Roadhog

2-burst Scrap Gun, new Trash Compactor, shorter Chain Hook stun.

Rework

Doctrine

Ultimate cost up 8%, Invigorating Drones 35% to 30%, Shrouded Momentum loses crit immunity.

Nerf (pre-launch)

Domina

Crystal Charge 8s to 7s; Reconstruction lifesteal 75% to 100%.

Buff

D.Va

Micro Missiles 11 to 14 shots per second.

Buff

Genji

Swift Strike 50 to 60; Dragonblade 110 to 100 with 15% faster swings.

Buff

Emre

Cyber Frag cooldown 10s to 9s.

Buff

Lúcio

Sound Barrier 5s to 6s.

Buff

Ana

Groggy perk replaced by Local Anesthetic.

Change

Bastion

Reconfigure 6s to 5s.

Nerf

Cassidy

Deadeye can no longer attach to Jetpack Cat’s Lifeline.

Nerf

All heroes

Smaller hitscan projectiles; hit volumes adjusted across the roster.

Change

The hit volume pass matters more than it looks. Blizzard says it shouldn’t feel very different on average, but Jetpack Cat’s head grew from 15.8 to 18.5 while Zenyatta’s shrank from 20 to 17.

Why do Overwatch tier lists disagree so much?

Because they measure different things. Expert lists rate a hero’s strength in coordinated, high-rank play, while data lists measure who actually wins across every rank.

Hero

Mobalytics expert list (Oct 7)

Counterwatch data (Oct 8)

Blizzard win rate (Oct 9)

Torbjörn

B

57.0%

Junker Queen

C

51.3%

Sojourn and Kiriko are the clearest cases. Both are high-skill heroes that experts rate highly, but most players lose with them.

Torbjörn is the reverse. Counterwatch’s methodology notes say heroes that need coordination climb with rank, and heroes that punish mistakes fall as opponents make fewer of them.

Freshness is the other problem. PC Gamer’s tier list was last updated June 23, 2026 for Season 3 and ranks 52 heroes, so it has no Doctrine and still lists Sombra as Damage.

Even Mobalytics’ page, updated October 7, shows two different S tiers in its image grid and its written list, and its Doctrine and Sombra notes still say “coming soon.”

So when lists disagree, check the date first. Then check whether it’s opinion or data.

How do I check the Overwatch meta for my own rank?

Use Blizzard’s free Hero Statistics page and set the filters to match how you play. It takes about a minute.

1.     Open Blizzard’s official Hero Statistics page on the Overwatch site.

2.     Set Game Mode to Competitive – Role Queue. That’s the view with Competitive ban rates.

3.     Set Tier to your rank. Options run from Bronze through Emerald up to Grandmaster and Champion.

4.     Set Input to Controller if you play on console, or Mouse & Keyboard on PC.

5.     Pick your Region: Americas, Asia, or Europe.

6.     Optional: filter by Map, or by a subrole like Flanker, Tactician, or Bruiser to compare similar heroes.

Blizzard’s FAQ on that page says stats start from the most recent patch and can take up to a day to catch up after an update. Give it a few days after any patch.

One quirk: the Role filter only hides other heroes. It doesn’t change the numbers.

Which Overwatch heroes get banned the most?

Jetpack Cat, Sombra, and Zarya were the most-banned heroes in Competitive at the start of Season 5, according to Overwatch Hero Stats (October 2 to 8, 2026, all ranks).

Count the D-tier heroes on that list. Bans track what’s annoying to face, not always what wins.

Ban habits also lag behind balance changes, a point PC Gamer’s Rory Norris made in June. This window also includes a few Season 4 days, so treat it as rough.

Should you only play S-tier heroes?

No. Tier lists average every map, every rank, and every enemy team, so your comfort on a hero usually matters more than a 2% gap.

Use the tiers to pick what to learn next. In a live match, swap based on the enemy team, the map, and what your team is missing.

One exception: if your main is D tier and you’ve been stuck at the same rank for weeks, learning one A or S tier hero in that role is a cheap test of whether the hero is the problem.

Overwatch tier list FAQ

Who is the best hero in Overwatch right now?

Vendetta has the highest average win rate in Overwatch right now, at about 54.8%, just ahead of Torbjörn and D.Mon.

That’s from three data sources checked October 8 to 9, 2026, early in Season 5.

Is Sombra good as a Support?

Early numbers say yes, but they’re noisy. Her win rate ranges from 48.7% (Counterwatch) to 54.4% (Blizzard’s default view), and she’s banned in nearly 40% of ranked games on owherostats.

Is Doctrine overpowered?

He’s the top Support by win rate, but not by a huge margin after his launch nerfs. Blizzard’s patch notes say he was overperforming during his September trial weekend.

Dot Esports reported Blizzard citing a trial win rate of around 58% during its October 5 livestream. Another tweak during the season wouldn’t be a shock, though nothing is announced.

Is the Overwatch tier list different on console?

It can be. Blizzard’s stats page splits data by Mouse & Keyboard and Controller, so console players should switch the Input filter to Controller.

We didn’t find a reliable controller-only tier list for Season 5.

How often does the Overwatch meta change?

Every season, plus midseason patches. In 2026, Season 1 started February 10 and Season 5 started October 6, so a new season lands roughly every two months.
