Arcade Monthly editorial policy
The rules the Arcade Monthly team works by, published so you can hold us to them.
Independence
Coverage decisions are made by editors. Advertisers, publishers and hardware makers do not see stories or scores before publication and cannot change them afterwards.
Reviews and scores
Games are played to completion, or for at least 20 hours where there is no ending. Hardware is used daily for at least a week. Scores run from 1 to 10 in half-point steps, and every review states the platform played, the time spent and whether the copy was bought or supplied.
Sources and accuracy
We name sources wherever we can. When a source asks to stay anonymous, an editor knows who they are and why. Rumours are labelled as rumours and are not reported as fact.
Corrections
When we get something wrong we correct the story and add a dated note saying what changed. To report an error, use the contact page.
Affiliate links and gifts
Some buying guides contain affiliate links, which are marked. Writers do not keep hardware worth more than $50; samples are returned or given away to readers.
